The Beehive is a popular, cosy, family run country freehouse pub located in the parish of Epping Green (near Hertford).
Food is an integral part of the Beehive's success, and the seasonally changing specials board and main menu provide a tempting combination of traditional dishes and new ideas. Fresh fish delivered daily from Billingsgate is one of the reasons this has become such a popular dining venue. Battered cod, plaice and skate are always at the top of the list of favourites. Other seafood options include oak smoked haddock topped with a poached egg, sea bass fillets, breaded scampi and the classic scallops and bacon, as well as other seasonal fish dishes and delicious crab or smoked salmon starters. Food is an integral part of the Beehive's success Hanging baskets and window boxes adorn the frontage all year round, and inside it's traditional to the core, with black beams, a log burner and ornamental brasses but with a modern touch. There is plenty of choice for meat eaters as well, including a chicken, ham hock and leek pie, lamb shoulder in minted gravy, a tasty bacon and brie beef burger, gammon and choice of steaks. Vegetarians are definitely not forgotten with a vast selection to suit everyone, some being coeliac friendly too. Sandwiches, light bites and jacket potatoes provide a satisfying snack for those with a lighter appetite or less time to spare and are always available. A good choice of real ales ( with cask masque accreditation) are always available, headed by Greene King IPA and Morelands Old Golden Hen and a third pump hosts a selection of guest ales, all of which can be enjoyed in the bar or outside on the decked or grass areas overlooking the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside. Lee Valley park and Broxbourne woods provide excellent opportunities for ramblers and nature lovers.
